Our returning clients of over 15 years purchased a 1980s mountain house tucked amidst the treetops on the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Having worked with Bridget Beari Designs on three of their prior homes, the couple hired us to create a carefree, year-round escape that celebrates the lush natural surroundings with focus on functional, sumptuous comfort. Collaborating with architect Bob Steele on both the interior and exterior renovations and redesign, the result is a mountainous transformation with seamless flow between indoors and outdoors.

In addition to connecting the setting and home’s heart, our aim was to merge the couple’s differing design styles. The wife wished to brighten the dark and dated house with comfy, contemporary furnishings and colorful accents. The husband wanted a more traditional style that reflects a conventional mountain cabin aesthetic. Because Bridget Beari Designs specializes in working closely with couples to marry tastes and desires, we happily achieved a beautiful balance that overjoyed both.

With a mix of contemporary and traditional silhouettes; new and aged finishes; natural materials and modern amenities; and fresh color combinations that complement the pine architectural details, the renovated, five-bedroom home is a relaxing and uplifting mountain retreat where the couple and their adult children can enjoy skiing, hiking, swimming and all of the activities of their four-season mountain dream home.
