THE FAN DISTRICT
Richmond, Virginia

Our lovely client purchased a dated two-bedroom condominium in Richmond’s vibrant Fan District. The home needed a complete renovation to reflect her fabulous style along with the fashionable location. Her vision: chic, refined, feminine, and open with a welcoming, comfortable feel. Bridget Beari Designs brought that vision to life in an array of lively color schemes in a transitional aesthetic with urban glam accents.

We gutted and expanded the outmoded kitchen, outfitting it with elegantly concealed storage and modern amenities. Thoughtful details and mixed materials add depth and personality, from the custom curved tambour island offering additional drawers and seating, to the stunning carved marble island top and backsplash, and modern brass sconces and pendant lights at varying heights. We added a walk-in pantry hidden behind a sliding door with fluted glass and sleek, industrial brass hardware. The breakfast nook now serves as a casually sophisticated dining area.

Because the client didn’t want a formal dining room, we incorporated that space into the living room, creating a large, contemporary setting designed for conversation and celebration. The expanded footprint also allowed for a statement wine niche for easy access and bottle storage, as well as a new gas fireplace with a dramatic black marble surround.

Just off the living room, the den was transformed into an intimate, luxurious lounge. Bridget Beari Colors "Bearzey" wraps the walls, while a bubbly blush-and-gold polka dot wallpaper on the ceiling infuses playful effervescence.

The common bath received a full facelift featuring a grand vanity with double sinks and stained maple cabinetry. The warm, grainy wood pairs beautifully with the edgy black-and-white graphic wallpaper.

The guest room glows in a soft pink palette, accented by a deep teal velvet bed frame and sculptural metallic details. The primary bedroom, by contrast, offers a tranquil retreat in sandy neutrals and soothing shades of light blue and gray repeated in a mix of soft, cozy, touchable textures.
